Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

RIIUMM302D - Install sets

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Plan and prepare for the installation of sets

  1. Access, interpret and apply installation of sets documentation, and ensure the work activity is compliant
  2. Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work instructions
  3. Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
  4. Select and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  5. Select, and check for faults, equipment/tools for the activity
  6. Conduct equipment pre-start checks and start up procedures
  7. Identify, address and report environmental issues, potential risks and hazards
  8. Inspect and assess site conditions and determine if scaling is required
  9. Identify and inspect ground control mechanism to ensure safety of site
  10. Use approved dust suppression and extraction methods
  11. Ensure work area is well ventilated before entry
